Alabama Criminal Round-Up December 30th

J.D. Lloyd - Friday, December 30, 2016

Here are a few of the criminal law stories that occurred around the state of Alabama this past week:

  • - An Orlando, FL couple involved in a multiple-state debit card skimming scan were apprehended by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office last Wednesday. Authorities had traced the device to a gas pump in Ozark, where five victims had their debit card information illegally obtained. So far, about 120 victims have been identified, with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office seizing $6,490 in cash, 39 stolen debit card numbers with PINs and 315 gift cards with an undetermined amount of personal information during the arrest of the two suspects.
  • - The peace of the Christmas weekend was disrupted last Friday night by multiple arrests in a Brookside drug bust. Five suspects (many with young children in two) were arrested and now face a multitude of charges such as chemical endangerment of a child, trafficking cocaine, trafficking heroin, conspiracy to commit controlled substance crimes, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of firearms.
  • - Two Huntsville men have been arrested in connection with an illegal drug deal that turned deadly at a Madison Sonic this past Monday. Authorities believe they had planned to rob the 18-year-old during the deal. The suspects now are being held in Limestone County Jail and will face the death penalty of life in prison without parole if convicted of capital murder.
