Alabama Criminal Law Round-Up September 13th

J.D. Lloyd - Friday, September 13, 2019

Here are a few of the criminal law stories that have recently occurred around the state of Alabama:

- After a six-month investigation into local trafficking of crystal meth by the Madison County Sheriff's office, two suspects (Anthony Guthrie and David Topete) were arrested after authorities found 24 pounds of meth stored in the cooler in a vehicle in North Alabama. Guthrie and Topete were charged with drug trafficking and jailed with a bail set at $1 million. The arrest came during a traffic stop last Thursday in Fort Payne. The driver, Guthrie, was arrested at the scene with Topete being arrested at a local hotel.

- A Postmates driver was stabbed by his ex-girlfriend on Wednesday night while making a food delivery. The two were arguing in the victim's car - parked in the lot of 700 Riverchase Apartments - when 34-year-old Michelle Diane Logan allegedly stabbed her 27-year-old ex-boyfriend in the chest with a switchblade-style knife. Officers found the victim on the sidewalk. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and subsequently released. Logan was arrested at the scene and was charged with one count of second-degree domestic violence with a bail set at $10,000.
