Here are a few of the criminal law stories that have recently occurred around the state of Alabama:

  • Police recently arrested a 19-year-old-year suspect a few days after she allegedly crashed her vehicle into a Waffle House in Arab. Somerville resident, Rebekah Paige Monk, has been charged with driving under the influence and being a minor in possession/consumption of alcohol, both misdemeanor charges. The crash occurred around 7:30 this past Saturday morning with the restaurant sustaining damage, though no injuries were reported. Authorities also found a bottle of vodka in the suspect’s car. She turned herself in the following Thursday.
  • Authorities recently announced the capture of the seventh suspect of eight involved in a deadly stabbing that happened during a burglary in north Alabama on May 6th. Federal officers arrested 19-year-old Kenneth Harvey in Florida. Harvey and the seven other suspects (Hunter Moore, Austin Holmes, Caeleb Kegley, Hunter DuBois, Larry Watts, Logan Cypret [the eighth suspect who is expected to turn himself in] and Lucas Kemp) went to a Madison home to rob its two occupants and allegedly killed 21-year-old Luke Pratt and shot another 26-year-old male. Planning allegedly occurred at a friend’s apartment in Athens, and Moore is suspected to be the “mastermind” according to authorities. Each suspect faces charges ranging from burglary to felony murder to capital murder.
