Alabama Criminal Law Round-Up January 4th

J.D. Lloyd - Friday, January 04, 2019

Here are a few of the criminal law stories that have recently occurred around the state of Alabama:

- A 33-year-old man who allegedly shot multiple rounds from an AK-47 outside a Huntsville nightclub was recently released from Madison County Jail. According to a police report, the suspect, Samuel Demario Williams, had been at the 3208 nightclub this past Monday and had been sent away from the club after getting in an altercation with another patron. He then retrieved the weapon from a nearby vehicle and began firing as he walked back to the club. Police say a security guard shot Williams in the thigh, but no other injuries were reported. Rapper Boosie had been set to perform at the club and described the scene of patrons fleeing for safety as the "Wild Wild West" in a video posted to his Instagram feed. Williams has been charged with misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment and menacing, plus felony charges of shooting into an occupied vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

- Police are looking for two suspects who were allegedly wearing Scream masks when they shot a man in North Huntsville on Thursday morning. The 33-year-old man, who received gunshot injuries not considered life-threatening, said he did not know his attackers. According to the victim, the two gunmen walked up to him, shouted obscenities at him and then shot him before walking away. The masks are similar to the "Ghostface" disguise found in the 1996 film.
